He's here! We are so excited to have our little Thomas with us in our family. Caroline and
Rexy are in
amazement with him and want to be around him all the time. We are definitely learning the words "gentle" and "soft".
I woke up in the morning at about 4:30 with little contractions here and there. Around seven they began to get stronger and more constistent. I was a little shocked because in previous labors I had long, all day contractions. I still wasn't thinking I would go into the hospital until later in the afternoon or evening. Nathan took the kids to play group and when he came home around nine fifteen my water broke. Another shocker to me. Never has my water broke and I still wasn't quite sure if that's what it was or if it was just pee! My contractions started to come more frequently and were pretty painful. I knew it was time to go. Nathan laughs at me because I wanted to stop at the store first to get a movie and chap stick. I then decided it wouldn't be a good idea, because I was starting to hurt pretty bad. We arrived at the hospital in good spirits, so the nurses didn't think I would be too far along. I kept telling her that contractions were coming very frequently. She finally checked me and looked at me in shock. Turns out I was dilated to an eight. At that moment she kind of went into panic mode and started speeding up the whole process. It was now too late to get and epidural, so we were all natural on this one. I never knew how painful delivery could be, but it definitely was painful. I also never knew how mean I could be when in pain. No one was going to tell me to hold off pushing, even if the doctor wasn't there yet. Good thing he came a few seconds later or else I don't know what was going to happen with this baby. We arrived at the hospital at 10:15 am and at 11:05 am we were blessed with our beautiful baby Thomas.
It's been a whirl wind, but we wouldn't have it any other way. I can't believe how much love you can have for your children so instantly. He is straight from heaven and such a joy to our home. We all love him so much and we are truly grateful that he is healthy and strong.
Here's a bunch of pics of the little man.
