Ghetto-Cool

So we are really beginning to love this place. We have an absolutely beautiful landscape around us and the people are so friendly and nice. For the most part we feel like we are in a modern, normal city, but there are moments when you see the south at it's best. We decided this last week that we would take Caroline to the drive through zoo. I was a little hesitant to go, but it ended being a pretty great place. There were a ton of animals with camels, zebras and ostriches coming right up to your window. We saw miniature pony's and black bears who peacefully lived together in a cage.(who would of guessed they could live in harmony). We saw monkeys doing things that may not be appropriate for little ones. I was also a little scared that a bison was going to charge our car! Scary. I get a little timid when it comes to animals sometimes. At the same time this place seemed to be a little weird. The cages weren't exactly nice and it felt a little dirty. It felt like the south at it's best. The whole place seemed a little under par. That's why I have named this post ghetto-cool. There is no other way to describe this zoo. Enjoy!

The zebra was right up to our window

Caroline was terrified of all the animals.

Isn't he getting so big and cute?

Our first visitors

For our nations Independence day we had the fine opportunity of sharing the glorious occasion with Brett Spencer and Jessica Odom Reese. I don't know if you know these two, but it is always a fun time when your with the Reese family. When Brett and Nathan get together it's like comedy central. I think I was laughing the whole time they were here. For the fourth we went up to a little city called Eureka Springs and had lunch and walked around. After Eureka we went swimming at our pool and then Brett and Nathan put on a firework show that could top all others. Our cute little neighbors raced home from their activities just so they could see the show. Basically all fireworks are legal in Arkansas so you step outside and there are huge fireworks going off all around you. We had bought all these fireworks thinking it was going to be awesome. We even had music going to set the mood. Turns out you need to spend more than a hundred dollars to get the good stuff. It was a fun memory and we had a lot of laughs that will never be forgotten. Thanks for coming Brett and Jess. We love you.

This and That

So in terms of the world nothing special has happened to our family, but for our family some pretty fun stuff has been going on.
1. Nathan cooked a delicious meal for us the other night that was not tacos, strogannoff(sp) or spaghetti. He was watching Rachel Ray on the food channel and decided to be ambitious. The meal turned out to be awesome. I will give the recipe at the end of my post.
2. Rexy is now sleeping eight or nine hours at night
3. We planted our first tree in our yard and it is my favorite kind of tree. A Magnolia.
4. Caroline has discovered crayons and pens. Whenever we are not in the room she is trying to color on the furniture. If anyone has some good ideas on how to discipline with love please let me know and that is serious.
5. My favorite holiday is just around the corner. The 4th of July or better known as independence day.
6. Nathan only has one more day in the store. Whahoooo!!!!
7. We were called as nursery leaders in our ward. I love kids.
8. I finally was able to run three miles. My goal is to run a marathon before my next child.
9. I took the picture of the pool from my yard to entice Marcus or anyone to come visit us.
10. Caroline is into shoes. She will walk everywhere in my shoes. She is going to be a girly, girl. What do I d0?!

Our House

I have had many people ask me to post pictures of our house. So here they are. It's not a spectacular house or anything, but we are fond of it. It's 100% better than living in a 600 sq. ft apartment with four people. As you can see we are still trying to get furniture and someday I hope to decorate a little bit, but I guess I have to do with what we've got. Let me know if you can guess which room is Caroline's right now. It's supposed to be a guest bedroom, but we don't have furniture for it. So before we moved in I was really putting the law down on keeping the toys up in the playroom. Little by little Caroline has now moved about 85% of her toys into the family room. She wins I guess. Life is good.

The crazy month

Wow it has been a long time since I have updated our lives. Sorry about the wait, but it has been an exciting, crazy, sad and happy month and a half. We took a trip to the Morris family cabin, we went to Midway and the AZ with the Rigby's and were able to get a special visit from Ali and John, Rexy was blessed, my friends threw me a surprise going away party, and we finally made the way to our new home. I was a little emotional to be leaving, but I am so happy we are here and starting our new adventure. Mom Morris stayed here for almost two weeks and I now miss her more than I ever have. I am finally all on my own during the day and it is an adjustment, but I love the time I have with my kids. I love being a mom and a wife. My family is so beautiful, I just love them so much.

Rexy is getting so big. I think he is getting a third chin, this kid can really eat. He is so adorable with his little coos and big smiles. Caroline is adjusting well. She loves going outside and I have to admit that a backyard is the best thing that ever happened to me. We are having so much fun with our space.

Nathan has started work. All his sch00ling has payed off, because he is now pushing carts through a wal-mart parking lot(that is no joke). He loves being busy and I am so proud of what he has acomplished and his desire to work and succeed.

I am just posting random pictures of the last month, enjoy.

FHE Playlist

For our FHE, Nathan and I decided to put together a playlist of our favorite songs. This brought back memories of dating, high school, friends and childhood. It was a great way to get to know each other better and learn more about our different styles. So enjoy our wide range of tastes from John Denver to Metallica (my personal favorite). We invite you to browse through these songs and find your favorite and maybe not so favorite. Nathan suggests you begin with REM- Nightswimming, a classic song for summer.
Our little "T-Rex"

Our little "Starlet"

Still in love!
