Great Thanksgiving

Since we couldn't be with the whole family in Utah, we decided to take a six hour drive Iowa and see Nick, Michelle and Soba. We had such a great time eating food, seeing the lights, playing games and relaxing. The four of us decided to make a home cooked Thanksgiving meal. With the help of phone calls to moms, Internet recipes and our own creative minds, we ended up making a delicious dinner that will go down in the books. I now have a great appreciation for all the time and effort our moms go through only to have all the food eaten up in minutes. Thanks moms! Yes, it take all day to get all the fixins on the table, but it was delicious and worth it.
The rest of the week was perfect. Games and relaxation. We also decided to do the whole black Friday thing. The night before we all looked through the papers to see what deals were going on and the next morning at 5:oo am sharp, we hit the stores. Black Friday will do crazy things to the mind and in all the madness, we decided to purchase and HDTV. It was a total impulse thing, and I did have buyers remorse for a few moments. Now that the buyers remorse is over, we are really excited to actually see the jazz games.
We were able to experience snow. Caroline loved playing with Soba and Shelly in the snow. It was hard to take her away from it. We were pleasantly surprised to arrive in Arkansas with a bit a snow too! This definitely was the icing on the cake for our holiday celebration.

All ready for Christmas

So we have already decorated for Christmas. The mantle is filled with candles, the tree is up, my Santa's are out, the nativity is being displayed and music is filling the house. The last thing we did was make the gingerbread houses with our neighbors. Caroline loved eating the frosting and eating the candy. Other than that she wasn't too interested in decorating. Can you tell that we love the holidays? What a great time of year to be with family and friends and be thankful for what we have. Since Thanksgiving is coming soon I have decided to make a quick list of what I am thankful for:
1. My kids who keep me on my toes, and an incredible husband who lets me be me.
2. Christmas music( I think I could listen to it all year long)
3. Walmart- It saves me money, so I can live better!
4. Chocolate- my secret passion
5. The food network- So I can dream of the day when I am the next Rachael Ray
6. Washer and Dryer- Two things I have now that I didn't have for three years.
7. Airplanes- So I can fly to see my family anytime I want.
8. Cold toes- So I can dig my feet under my husbands legs when we're watching TV.
9. Old furniture- So I don't get too upset when my kids color, spit-up or spill punch on them.
10. The Savior- I would have nothing to be grateful for without him!
Have a great Thanksgiving and enjoy the time with the ones you love.

Is it too soon?

So I have started decorating for Christmas and to put me in the mood I have busted out the Christmas music. I would have a cute holiday back ground, but I couldn't find one I liked. My friend Angie inspired me. Maybe I am crazy, but my excuse is that we are going home for the Holidays so I need to enjoy my house decorated before we leave. I put on some music that reminded me of my home growing up, college and just some favorites that I personally enjoy. Is it too soon? You be the judge. In my opinion you can never be too early for Christmas

Halloween Good times

I hope you all had a great Halloween. Ours was nothing less that spectacular. We began by walking through the walmart homeoffices and trick or treating around the building. I can not tell you how amazed Caroline was at the fact that she could grab as much candy as she could over and over and over. She got more candy in two hours than I ever did going door to door for four hours. We then had friends come over for donuts, but my donuts didn't raise so we had scones. Rex was the cutest little turtle ever. The costume fit his personality so well. He is such an easy going, happy little guy. He loved his costume. Caroline was tinkerbell. How cute is that?

The day has arrived!

Can you feel it in the air. Yes, it's here. One of the greatest, most exhilarating days of the whole year. The day many Utahn's have been craving for months. A moment of excitement, thrill, emotion and passion. That moment will arrive at 7:00pm mt. The blow of the whistle and the screeching sound of basketball shoes and the tip of a finger. Our Utah Jazz are here. I had to give a shout out to our Jazz, not only for myself, but for my husband.
Nathan made me promise not to schedule anything tonight so we could watch the game on our newly purchased TVO. (Yes, the only reason we have it is to watch jazz games.) Last Nathan was quietly watching another NBA game when he commented to me "I love basketball!" Yes he loves basketball, but most of all the Utah Jazz.
While we are excited for this day, there are some things we will miss as the season aproaches. No one cares for the Jazz here like we do and our hearts turn to family. No more attending games and irritating the officials. We can't watch the game with mom Morris and listen to her scream at the TV. No more delicious bread pudding at the Lexus club. No more non-stop talk about the Jazz at the dinner table from all the brothers. No more listening in on the player gossip from Dad Rigby. These things and much more leave us a bit gloomy.
Though a slight bit of gloom may hang over us this day, it will not overpower our love of the Utah Jazz. We give our shout outs to Boozer, Williams, Okur, Andre, Korver, Brewer, Millsap and the rest of the crew. May this day be the beginning of an exciting and eventful season.

Joys of Motherhood

This week has been a week filled with milestones and funny moments. I have realized how amazing and funny motherhood can be. I don't think there has been a day where I haven't laughed at the acts of my children.
The first moment was a few nights ago when I was picking up the toys after the kids went to bed. I came across Caroline's bassinet:) Elmo was lying there with a binky in his mouth and blanket over him. She is only two, but I could see how those motherly instincts hit early. She definitely loves her baby's and Elmo.

The next moment was a milestone for our family. Caroline is finally in a big girl bed. I was so worried that she would have a hard time sleeping in something other than a crib. Nathan put her up in her room gave her a bottle and she ran right to her bed, jumped on and went to sleep. She slept the whole night through. It was a glorious moment. Rex also moved up stairs. I was a little sad to have him so far away from us, but he slept so well and I slept so well. My kiddo's are growing up.
Here is Caroline's room I am working on. Not quite finished but it's turning out to look pretty good.

Pumpkin patch

October has been a crazy, busy month. We have had way too much fun and the month is not over yet. We went to this really cute pumpkin patch with our friends. It was so much fun. Caroline loved the cow train that said moo. Rex loved sitting in the pumkins. Nathan loved the hay ride and I loved the blue grass music that was terrible! We love October.

My birthday girl

Our curious, energetic, sweet, busy, strong willed little girl is 2. Life has been so amazingly fun with her in our lives. She keeps us on our toes and doesn't stop until she is in her bed, fast asleep. We love her so much and thank Heavenly Father every day for the happiness she brings into our home. It's crazy to think that only two years ago we were sitting in the hospital with a healthy five lb 15 oz beautiful baby. Now she is a whopping 20lbs!
Some of the fun things she is doing now are singing songs like "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star", the Dora song and the Sponge Bob song. Her favorite thing to say right now is "I wuv(love) candy" or anything else, but mostly candy. A funny thing about her is that she can point to Russia, Canada, USA, Australia and Antarctica on her little place mat map of the world. We think she is a genius! She loves Rex so much and sometimes gets a bit too aggressive with him which makes him cry a lot. She loves to watch Disney movies in our bed.
For her birthday she had so much fun with friends and family. She loves her Dora big wheel although she is still a little too small for it. She is such a beautiful girl with so much personality. We so grateful to have her as a daughter.

Happy Birthday Caroline! We love you.

Autumn in the air

Don't you just love the feel in the air right now? I can't help but feel a little giddy as I take in each breath knowing that Autumn will be arriving soon. I love this time of year. I love the crisp air, decorating with my pumpkins and wreaths, eating my soups, anticipation to see the leaves changing and inhaling the sweet scent of my cider spice candle. Nathan and his friend Spencer decided to have a fall kick off at our house and invite all our friends. They made chicken, potatoes, and peach cobbler in the dutch ovens. Nathan, being the fun guy that he is bought a fire pit for our back patio. It was so much fun to have all our friends sitting around the fire, making smores and getting to know each other better. The best part was that I didn't do anything but straighten up our house. He and Spencer put it all together! I love that my husband is so social and up for anything. It seems as though time is flying by so fast here. Rexy is now sitting and playing with his toys , it is crazy to think he will be crawling soon. Caroline will be turning two in a month. She is such a fun, curious girl. I love to see her go a million miles an hour(it makes me tired just watching her). I can't believe my babies are getting so big. I guess with the changing of the seasons it helps me understand that change is inevitable, but so wonderful and beautiful too.

Rigby fun overload!

Our Mimi came to visit us this last week or so and it definitely was so much fun to have her. It was a nice break for me to have her help with the kids and house work. I think I am going to miss her more than anybody. Mimi spoiled the kids (no surprise) and she spoiled us. Nathan and I were able to get away and spend time together. We had a good time golfing and going out . Thanks mom for being so wonderful. We can't wait until you come again.

We loved the zoo! This time we went to the kangaroo area. I had no idea these animals were so lovable. They would hop right up to you and eat from your hand and let you pet them. I wanted to put one in our bag and take him home with us. Caroline and Rex even enjoyed feeding the kangaroos.

Nick and Michelle came down for the weekend so we all went boating at the lake that is near our house. The water was absolutely perfect, it felt like lake Powell. Skiing and tubing was so much fun. We also jumped off a great little cliff that we found last year while boating with friends. It took me about five minutes to get the courage to jump, but I am proud to say that I did it. Michelle and Nathan rode the tube together, it took them forever to get on the tube! So Nick and I decided to show them how it's done. We had great time. Thanks mom.

One night while Mimi was with us we went to the fair. We has such a good time with food and rides. Caroline loved the slide and playing in the sandbox the most. She loved the helicopter, but as soon as she realized we weren't going with her she just about freaked. Rex was stung by his first bee, but he handled it very well. It didn't realize he was stung for a half an hour or so. Poor guy. It was a really fun night and we will definitely go back next year.
